members of my extended family trained and kept drug-sniffing dogs, all my life, and off-duty they are the sweetest animals. like they brought their dogs to christmas and family birthdays and cookouts, and they would play with the kids, from toddlers to teens, and if you weren’t told you would have no idea that these dogs had jobs with the police. drug-sniffing dogs aren’t attack dogs, their job is “find thing, indicate thing;” it’s why retriever breeds are used. i am not excusing police practices in the bullshit war on drugs, i know it’s bad, i am just saying i have years of experience in life with drug-sniffing dogs and these cops are LYING. there’s no reason whatsoever ex-drug-sniffing dogs would have to be euthanized and couldn’t be adopted.
