In Minneapolis we cover utility boxes with art to make them less of an eye-sore, and I am told it discourages graffiti and vandalism. The city allows anyone to contribute images for the utility boxes, and a panel selects a number each year to place on new utility boxes or on boxes in need of repair. This image was taken by a very old friend of mine—two of her photos were selected this year. Both are in south Minneapolis along Cedar Avenue near Lake Nokomis.
