maybe the reason all the ghosts from horror stories are malicious is cause all the ghosts who maintain healthy, respectful boundaries have no way to ask for consent to interact with the living and see crossing that boundary without consent as a potentially traumatic violation. so the only ghosts who do communicate or interact with the living are the ones with shit boundaries or entitlement issues
