Lanercost Priory, near Hadrian’s Wall, Northumbria

This famous priory has a long and colourful history but its links to Hadrian’s Wall are very real in that stones used for segments of the building are taken directly from the wall, observed by the fact that some stones contain Roman inscriptions. (Image 4).
